Install FUJIFILM X Acquire

Official X Acquire download for Mac and Windows ↗

Check Fujifilm’s system requirements and choose your operating system. Read the licence on Fujifilm’s site before downloading.

Mac and Windows installation
  • Mac: Open the downloaded .dmg and drag X Acquire into Applications. Launch it from there.
  • Windows: Open the downloaded .exe and follow the setup prompts.
  • First launch: Choose an image-transfer folder when prompted. X Acquire runs from the Mac menu bar or Windows taskbar.

Fujifilm now recommends FUJIFILM TETHER APP ↗, which includes backup/restore. Its exports still need to pass this website’s compatibility checks.

Connect your X-T2

X Acquire backup/restore requires X-T2 firmware 3.00 or newer. This does not guarantee compatibility with this website’s backup editor.

On the camera, open SET UP → CONNECTION SETTING → PC CONNECTION MODE. Select USB RAW CONV./BACKUP RESTORE if available, or a USB tether shooting mode. Connect the camera with a USB data cable and switch it on.

If the camera is missing, check the connection mode and cable, close other camera apps, and check any operating-system access prompts. See Fujifilm’s backup/restore instructions ↗.

Back up, edit and restore

  1. Open X Acquire’s menu-bar or taskbar icon and choose BACKUP CAMERA SETTINGS. Save the .dat file and keep an untouched original.
  2. Load a reviewed compatibility profile and choose a .dat backup here. Processing stays in this tab.
  3. Choose C1–C7 and the fields to apply. Review settings and exact changed bytes before downloading a new file.
  4. In X Acquire, choose RESTORE CAMERA SETTINGS and select the downloaded .dat file. Wait for restoration to finish before disconnecting. Check the bank on camera and re-export to verify.

This downloads a full camera backup: restoring it also restores the other settings from your original. The destination bank does not change the camera’s active bank.

C1 has broader mapped settings. C2–C7 export only directly tested tone fields and values. The remaining controls are library-only for those banks. WB shifts and bank-name writing remain disabled. Camera byte comparisons are not restoration tests; only the documented C1 subset was restored. Firmware was not supplied in the original research.

Other cameras or firmware need separately reviewed profiles and controlled mapping evidence. A model name or matching length is insufficient. Profiles never expand field permissions. Import profiles only from a trusted reviewer; they authorize a backup family.

Independent project; not affiliated with Fujifilm. Included sample recipes and artwork are original starting points, not calibrated film emulations.
